Flattening stone #220 for leveling the surface of whetstones

Flattening stone #220 for leveling the surface of whetstones

As the waterstone is used, its surface ceases to be perfectly even and flat. This is a natural and unavoidable consequence of sharpening knives on a waterstone. Uneven use of the stone's surface hinders the sharpening process, making the results unsatisfactory. For a waterstone to sharpen correctly, it must be perfectly even, and the appearance of any hollows requires immediate repair.

The solution to this problem is Bacher's flattening stone, which quickly and effectively levels the surface of whetstones, restoring their proper abrasive properties. Thanks to the use of coarse and highly resistant silicon carbide, with a gradation of 220, correcting the deformed surface of worn waterstones is extremely simple and can be achieved in a matter of moments.

The unquestionable advantage of the stone is the precision-cut grooves, which have been specifically designed to easily and quickly remove steel residue that settles on the surface of the stone after sharpening. The unique grooving feature ensures a much more thorough process of removing irregularities from the stone's surface.

In addition, the large abrasive surface of our levelling stone is perfectly sized to achieve the desired smoothing effect in the shortest possible time.

How to use a leveling stone?

1. Place the stone sharpener and smoothing stone in the water for about 15 minutes. This will allow you to achieve the effect of levelling the stone surface more quickly.

2. After removing the waterstone from the water, draw a few lines with a pencil across the entire surface of the stone.

3. Rub the grooved side of the smoothing stone over the surface of the sharpener with medium pressure. When the lines disappear, the stone surface is perfectly level.

Note: To make the process of smoothing the stone easier and quicker, make sure the surface of the sharpener is always wet.
